Mission and Vision of WBREDA
West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) is a society registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. It was formed in the year 1993 under Department of Science & Technology and later, came under Power & NES Department, Government of West Bengal. After bifurcation, it has now come under administrative control of the Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources Department.
The vision of WBREDA:
- Provide support to state policies towards implementation of various renewable energy projects and to encourage use of renewable energy among the masses.
- Development of strategic documents, frameworks, norms and standards for the growth of Renewable Energy sector.
- Act as per targets, fixed up by the Govt. of India, according to the Paris Climate Accord, 2015, West Bengal State RE Policy, 2012 and West Bengal State Action Plan on Climate Change.
The Mission of WBREDA :
- To promote Renewable Energy Technologies and to create an environment for popularizing Renewable Energy through innovative projects.
- To implement different renewable energy projects like Solar, Wind, Biomass, Biogas, Tidal etc. to reduce the carbon footprints [GHG emissions]
